What to Sell on eBay
If you're setting out to make money with auctions, you'll need to know what to sell on eBay.
There is really no one answer that cover this question. You'll need to understand the site, and how the
auction game works. The thing that will push prices higher is the law of supply and demand.
You can't go to a wholesaler or
drop-shipper and just pick items, hoping they will sell well. You need to research each potential listing before
you decide what you will be selling. It's a waste of time and money to invest in a product before you know how
it will sell.

People who only sell periodically on
eBay don't do enough market research to learn what to sell on eBay, to make the most money with the lowest
investment. You won't want those mistakes hounding you, so you need to understand what the demand for products
is for your category, and when during the year those items will sell the best.
Electronics usually sell very well on
eBay, but this all depends on what type and brand of electronics you choose to sell. Cheap, China-made
knock-offs of real product names don't normally fetch a lot of money, because savvy eBay buyers know exactly
what they are looking for. True, there are many clones of, say, iPhones in China, but they don't perform the
same way a real iPhone does, and you'll get bad feedback if you sell electronics that don't work
properly.
Leather coats are one subset of the
list of what to sell on eBay, too, but many wholesalers sell cheap, sometimes even imitation leather coats, and
these usually only sell to new buyers who don't know what they will be getting. Again, if they are disappointed,
it will result in bad feedback, and that will cost you customers.
Athletic shoes can be a big item to
sell on eBay, but this is another area where knockoffs have infiltrated all the categories. Most sellers are
honest, but watch for sellers who list items that look like real Nike or other branded shoes, for
lower than usual prices. Sometimes you will receive knock-offs, and sadly, sometimes you'll receive nothing at
all. Once you find a supplier who will sell you the real deal at wholesale prices, you should stay with them and
their products, if they sell well.
You can do advanced searches on eBay to
see how items have sold in the past few months, before you decide what to sell on eBay. Some items are very
seasonal, like cookie cutters and cookie presses. You can even buy these on eBay for a song in June, and resell for $40
or more during the holiday season.
You can also check with pulse.eBay to
find out what items are selling well right now. Pay attention to what types of items sell in the niche you have
selected as your own, and what kinds of listings are getting more attention from buyers. When you find out what
to sell on eBay during each season, you'll have established a firm plan for what to sell at what times of
year.
